A family trip is one of those rare moments when everyone is together and away from the rhythm of daily life. For this family of six, the portrait session became a way to preserve that time while each child was at a different stage of growing up.
Blue became the visual thread that held the photos together. Royal, navy, and softer tones gave each person an individual presence while keeping the group connected. Against the tropical foliage, the color felt vivid and elegant. Near the water, it became part of the landscape.
The gardens offered an intimate setting for the full family portrait. Dense greenery narrowed the frame and brought everyone forward, creating a photo that feels polished without becoming overly formal.
Arranging six people, including four children of different ages, is an exercise in balance. No one needs to mirror the person beside them. A shift in posture, a quiet smile, or a more serious expression allows each personality to remain visible. Together, those differences reveal the character of the family.
The goal is not to create a perfect version of how a family should look. It is to offer enough direction for everyone to feel confident while leaving room for the expressions and gestures that already belong to them.
As we moved through the property, the atmosphere changed as well. The architectural spaces introduced structure and clean lines. The beach opened the frame, replacing the intimacy of the gardens with light, movement, and horizon.
Each environment contributed something different without making the gallery feel disconnected. There was space for the complete family, smaller groupings, and individual moments. The blue palette remained constant as the surroundings changed, giving the collection a natural sense of continuity.
The changes in scenery also gave the children room to reset, keeping the pace relaxed without asking them to hold the same pose for too long.
There is no need to arrive with a detailed list of locations or poses. The practical consideration is allowing enough time for the number of participants and the amount of movement involved.
A session in one area requires less time than one that includes the gardens, hotel spaces, and beach. With a larger group, a comfortable pace makes it possible to arrange everyone carefully, create different combinations, and move between settings without making the experience feel rushed.
Before the session, clients must contact the hotel directly to request authorization for the photo session to take place on the property and for me to be granted access as their photographer. No outside-vendor fee is required; securing approval in advance ensures a discreet and seamless arrival.
Most families need only simple guidance once the session begins. I help with positioning, posture, and where to look, then allow their natural connections to give the photos warmth.
Family photos mark more than a trip. They hold the relationships, expressions, and stages of life that are easy to overlook while they are still unfolding.
Years from now, the gardens and shoreline will remain part of the memory, but the people will give the photos their meaning: the way they stood together, the personalities already taking shape, and the chapter they shared in one place.
If this is how you would like to remember your own time together, I would be honored to create those photos for your family.
